Everyone is different, but everyone is valuable!
Here’s a great poem by Jack Prelutsky (as written in the book “Pocket Poems,” selected by Bobbi Katz).
THE WORLD’S FASTEST TURTLE
The world’s fastest turtle
and the world’s slowest horse
raced one another
around a great course.
The horse won the race,
you’d expect that, of course….
a turtle’s a turtle,
a horse is a horse.
My thoughts? Sometimes we compare ourselves to others, and expect ourselves to be a turtle — and we are really a horse. Or vice versa.
Or, we expect someone to have exactly the same kinds of thoughts and feelings (emotions) that we have, and when we realize they aren’t the same, we think they are wrong!
We need all kinds of people in the world - and we are all unique! Let’s give ourselves a break and stop criticizing and condemning others - and also ourselves.
